The first step in monitoring and tracking our water usage is this newly installed Zenner water meter. Later this summer we'll be setting the entire water array to telemetry. With an annual rainfall more than double that of the City of San Diego, our goal is to get the vineyard to 100% dry farming, but that is going to take a couple years until the vines are somewhat more mature. In this time, we will record what is occurring with our water system to ensure we don’t over stress the well. Monitoring will include well level depth, flow rate from the well, flow rate to the vineyard, and level in the storage tanks. With this info, we’ll be able to quickly see and address most water issues.
