Our entire property is covered with Manzanita. We believe ours are all Eastwoods or Arctostaphylos glandulosa). A quick internet search told us that the manzanita berry (technically called a ‘drupe’) is edible. In fact, native Americans and early Spanish missionaries even made cider from the berries. With that, we’ve embarked on making a very unique and tasty wine from our manzanita. Here’s what the beautiful tree looks like, a batch of manzanita drupes and the first four gallons of wine that are 100% estate produced. So, we’ve actually produced an estate wine 4 years ahead of schedule!
